Baker Skateboards

Baker Skateboards is an American skateboard company founded in 2000 by professional skateboarder Andrew Reynolds in Huntington Beach, California. One of the most successful and beloved independent skate brands in the world, Baker is known for a rawer, grittier aesthetic than its peers, a fiercely loyal team, and a series of video parts and full-length productions that have shaped modern street skating.

Key Facts

  • Founded: 2000
  • Founder: Andrew Reynolds (“The Boss”)
  • Headquarters: Huntington Beach, California, USA
  • Industry: Skateboarding, Apparel

History

Andrew Reynolds launched Baker after leaving Birdhouse Skateboards, bringing several riders with him. The brand’s early videos — Baker 2G (2000), Baker 3 (2005), and later Baker Has a Deathwish (2008) — became defining documents of street skateboarding. Reynolds’ own skating remains widely regarded as among the most technically gifted and stylistically influential of his generation. The brand is distributed through Baker Boys Distribution, which Reynolds co-owns with Jim Greco and Beagle.

Notable current and past riders include Dustin Dollin, Bryan Herman, Terry Kennedy, Theotis Beasley, Spanky, and Riley Hawk. The Baker team has a reputation for a hard-partying, anti-establishment personality that is central to the brand’s identity.

Aesthetic

Baker’s graphics are bold and often darkly comic — skulls, aggressive typography, and irreverent imagery. The apparel follows the same ethos: T-shirts, hoodies, and headwear that read as genuinely skate-rooted rather than fashion-adjacent. The brand does not chase trends; its consistency of identity is a significant part of its enduring appeal.
