Bianca Saunders

Bianca Saunders is a London-based menswear brand founded in 2017 by designer Bianca Saunders, a graduate of Kingston University’s fashion programme. The brand has received significant critical attention for its exploration of Black masculinity, Caribbean heritage, and the complex politics of how men — particularly Black men — dress and are perceived. Saunders was awarded the ANDAM Grand Prix in 2020, one of the most prestigious awards in European fashion.

Design Approach

Saunders’ collections interrogate the ways clothing constructs, restricts, and expresses masculine identity. She works with tailoring traditions — jackets, trousers, shirts — but manipulates them through unusual panelling, asymmetric drape, and a distinctive approach to fabric weight and movement that loosens the conventional rigidity of men’s tailoring. Each collection is anchored to a clearly articulated conceptual theme, often drawing on research into the designer’s Jamaican heritage, West Indian communities in Britain, and the aesthetics of Black popular culture.

The brand has shown at Paris Fashion Week Men’s and is stocked by SSENSE and select international retailers. It is considered one of the most intellectually and aesthetically rigorous menswear labels currently operating in London.

Recognition

Beyond the 2020 ANDAM Grand Prix, Saunders has been longlisted for the LVMH Prize and recognised by the British Fashion Council as an emerging talent. The brand is increasingly seen as part of a new generation of London menswear designers redefining what the category can address.
