Soulland

Soulland is a Copenhagen-based contemporary menswear brand founded in December 2002 by Silas Adler at the age of 17, with Jacob Kampp Berliner joining as co-owner in 2006. Rooted in skateboarding, graffiti culture, and the subcultural energy of early 2000s Copenhagen, Soulland grew into one of the defining voices in Danish fashion — earning a consistent presence at Copenhagen Fashion Week since 2007, an international distribution network, and collaborations with Nike, Hello Kitty, Playboy, and Colette, among many others. In June 2024, Adler departed Soulland after 22 years; Kampp Berliner became sole owner.

History and Philosophy

Adler founded Soulland as a teenage skateboarder who saw clothing as an extension of subculture — not just product, but culture made wearable. The brand’s design language combined Scandinavian artisanship with the energy of skate and graffiti culture, producing menswear that felt genuinely contemporary rather than trend-driven. Adler described his approach through the metaphor of looking down a street as a skater and seeing opportunities: “When looking down the street and I see stairs and rails, I see an opportunity to utilize these in a skate. This same mentality is applied to Soulland’s design process.”

Adler received the Designer of the Year award at the DANSK Fashion Awards in 2012. The brand progressively expanded its gender scope, adding womenswear and adopting a fully genderless approach in 2022. Throughout, a commitment to GOTS-certified factories, responsible sourcing from Italy, France, and Portugal, and independent manufacturing has defined the brand’s production ethos. Soulland is stocked by END. Clothing, Browns, SSENSE, and international retailers.

Aesthetic

Soulland’s collections sit between contemporary tailoring and streetwear — elevated shirts, outerwear with graphic intelligence, suiting in unexpected fabrics, and accessories that reference the brand’s skate and graffiti heritage without ever being literal about it. The brand’s aesthetic is recognisably Danish: considered, slightly understated, and built to last.
